In our book Delirium, Lena is struggling with "Man vs. Society". Lena's whole society is told to be afraid of love, and I think she is struggling to figure out if that is the right thing. Her mom died when she was 6 years old. Lena's mom had the procedure to get the disease removed three separate times because it wasn't working. The night before she was scheduled to go into her fourth surgery, Lena's mother committed suicide. We think that since her mother had the disease, she is scared to go against the rules. She is now feeling some things she has never felt before and she is terrified.
The rules are wrong and Lena knows that, but there is nothing she can do about it. It seems to Lena that her government, society, and family just want to control her, her decisions, and how she lives her life. We feel like as the book goes on, she is getting less and less scared to break the rules. She is starting to live a little more on the edge, although she is terrified to get caught. We like how she is becoming more and more adventurous, but we are scared for her too. We hope she figures out what to do about the conflicts with her society. We can't wait to keep reading, and see if she resolves her problems.
I really like this blog and agree with the man vs society. I really like how you said how as time goes on she gets less scared. I think all the info was good and I agree with everything.
