(Marisa G.) Character Conflict

      So far I think that the main conflict is Man VS Society.I think this because Lena the main character is struggling between what she really wants and what her society wants.Lena overall in my opinion doesn't want the cure but feels compelled and like she has to get the cure because that is what her community wants. Hana on the other hand what to be free but feels like she has to do the same thing because Lena and her community feels like it's the right thing to get the cure.I also think that the main conflict is man vs society because Lena only really wants the cure because her mother died from being diseased. Lena feels like if she doesn't get the cure she will end up like her mother.Lena and her best friend have tried to work together to get out of this state of mind but Lena just can't.

      Another reason I think that this is the main conflict is because Lena's community has put it into her mind that you will be a disgrace if you don't get the cure.It's illegal to listen to unsafe music,hug,love.Her society has put it into Lena's mind that her childhood is a lie.They made her think that her mother was a freak.In the book Lena says that all the things she did with her mother as a child were a lie.She is just now realizing that all the stuff her mother did was to protect Lena's family from the society.She explains that when she was little she fell of her bike and her mother started to rock her in her arms and a lady told Lena and her mother that they should be ashamed of themselves.So this is why I think that the main conflict is man vs society.
