Lauren Oliver is the author of Delirium. She grew up in a house full of creativity, imagination, and literature. When she was growing up she would write sequels to books she really enjoyed reading. She published her first book, Before I Fall, on March 2, 2010. She has 10 books published, and they can be read by a variety of readers. Lauren Oliver writes fiction books that take place in a societies that are different than ours. She writes about things that happen in the future, present, and those that can never happen.
I think that the author wrote Delirium, along with Pandemonium and Requiem, to show what our world would be like without love. Love is considered a disease in future Portland, and here we all love and do it passionately. Lauren Oliver made these books very unique and different from other books. Before reading this book, I had never heard of a book with the setting of a place without love. I think this draws the reader's attention to read about what it's like in a society without something that comes naturally to us. I was curious about what it would be like to not have love in the world when I read the blurb of this book, and I think that's what Lauren Oliver's purpose was for writing this book. She wanted to stand out and write about what most don't think about.
This is one of the best blog posts I have ever read! I had never thought about why Lauren Oliver wrote the Delirium books, but I agree that it draws you in because love comes so naturally to us! I can't wait you read your next post!!
ReplyDeleteI really agree with you when you said the trilogy revolved around society. I really liked all the detail that you provided for each fact. Really good and very true.
