Character Conversation (Alanna B.)

If I could talk to my main character I would probably say "Lena, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I know you're scared. I know you don't know where Alex is, but it is going to be okay. You cannot stop fighting this, you have to keep trying. Keep your cool and don't let them know that you are probably going to resist, just act like you are happy that they "helped" you. I know you can get out of this. Don't give up."

I chose to say this because I think it is very important that Lena doesn't give up at this point. If she gives up now, then everything her and Alex did would be pointless. I also wanted to include some "strategic warfare" in their, like pretending that she is happy, so that it will be easier for Lena to escape. I really wanted to say this to her like this because the choppiness makes it more intense. I would hope that Lena would take it more seriously that way because she really needs to realize that this situation has to be executed very seriously if she wants to get out of her house.

I also would say things such as "I know you're scared." and "I am so sorry..." to show sympathy and compassion for Lena. In scary times like these, people just need someone to tell them that it will be okay. Lena needs some sort of reassurance to help her through this tough situation, something to give her hope. I REALLY like this book, and I can't wait to see what Lena does next! I really hope Lena can find her way through this tough situation!

  1. I agree that she doesn't need to give up now. She would be losing a lot if she does. I think she also needs to try and resist against the government, because I think the whole world needs to know what the society is telling them are lies.
