I think my opinion on Lena is definitely a more optimistic one. Even though I don't agree with some of her choices, and am not a fan of some of her personality traits, her curiousness showed me something. It only took a little while for Lena to decide to lie to her aunt to see what someone else has to say. This shows that her personality will probably change throughout the book, leading to a more likable character. She may go from a timid, shy, anxious girl to a loud and proud one like Hana. This is what keeps me tied on to Lena, waiting for her to slowly change into a new person. I can't wait to find out how her personality will evolve!

(Alanna B.) Main Character Impression
The main character in this book, Lena, seems very anxious at first. She is rushing into the surgery, and is very excited to have it done, although she is most-likely not prepared. Along with being anxious, she also has a very slight hint of humbleness and timidness. She is not very confident in herself, and has trouble doing what she intends to do while under pressure. For example, she seems to hide behind Hana's loud and proud personality. When she is under pressure at the evaluation, she blurts out gray as her favorite color instead of blue. She doesn't seem to like lying at first, but then later lies to her aunt Carol so that she can go to the cove. This shows me that she is curious, and is willing to do something she doesn't like very much just to get to the cove and find out what Alex has to say.

I don't agree with you that she was willing to lie just to get to the cove. In the book it says that she was practically sick to her stomach and really nervous. That shows that she didn't want to do that although it shows that she is curious it definitely shows that she didn't want to do that.
ReplyDeleteI like that you included how her personality is slowly changing. I hope that she will be different at the end, rather than the character at the beginning of the story. I hope to find later on why her perspective on things is changing, and how it effects her personality and choices.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that she is anxious. Also, she is always hiding behind Hana. I think this because she is very unconfident of herself. Also, I thought she was pretty athletic because she was running even though her leg was hurting.
ReplyDeleteI agree that she is very excited about getting her operation and is not prepared. I also don't enjoy all of her habits or personalities. She has a special personality that explains her. Great post overall!
