About the Author (Emma Woody)

The young adult american author Lauren Oliver, was raised in Winchester, New York. At a very early age her parents  encouraged her and her sister to be creative and live imaginatively. She enjoyed reading books and when she read a book she loved she wrote sequels to them. She went to college at the University of Chicago and graduated with a major of literature and philosophy in 2004. In 2008 she graduated from the NYU's MFA program in creative writing. As a young adult she worked as an editorial assistant, assistant editor for Razorbill and she is now a full time author. She has written many books so far ever since she published her first book Before I Fall in 2010. Some of them are the Delerium series, Panic, Vanishing Girls and many others.

I think that she wanted to write things that not very many authors write about. She may of thought up of the idea of a futuristic world where love is a disease. She grew up around a creative family and that might be why she wrote the Delerium series. She also might of wanted to show us to not take simple things like love as granted. She thinks of so many fun ways to inform us about how important simple things are.

  1. This is very interesting! I didn't know that her parents encouraged them to be creative! I also think that she likes to write outside of the box where most authors don't. Great Post!!
